In-Motion Weighing Technology
Are you fed up with outdated, time-consuming weighing methods that prevent your operations? There is no need to be frustrated anymore while ControlSoft Canada is here to help you. To completely transform your business, we provide a game-changing solution that combines innovative technologies with in-motion weighing.
Following global traffic enforcement and data collecting standards, our automation control system engineers and technical team developed this system with accuracy, dependability, comprehensiveness, usability, and integration in mind.
The secret of our effective WIM system is a combination of cutting-edge sensor technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning algorithms. With such configuration, these devices can rapidly process vast amounts of data and deliver real-time, accurate weight readings.
Road Safety through In-Motion Weighing Systems
Overloaded trucks pose a significant risk to road safety due to higher tire deterioration, delays in stopping, and an increased risk of tumbling. Using our cutting-edge In-motion weighing system, authorities can monitor vehicle weights in real-time, allowing them to take immediate action against overweight trucks. This helps in the enforcement of laws and encourages compliance, making our roadways safer for everyone.
Furthermore, our systems provide valuable data on truck weights, which supports authorities in studying road usage patterns, monitoring transportation industry trends, and making informed decisions for future infrastructure planning.

Strengths of ControlSoft Canada’s WIM Solutions
What sets our in-motion weighing systems apart from the rest? Let us tell you about the strengths that make our systems the best choice for your business:
- Exceptional Accuracy
Our in-motion weighing devices provide unrivaled accuracy, allowing for accurate weight readings of vehicles while they are in motion. By eliminating the need for motionless weighing stations, we reduce traffic congestion, saving travelers important time and enabling continuous flow on congested transportation routes.
- Real-Time Data Analysis
The WIM systems used by us offer real-time data processing, allowing for the prompt identification of overweight vehicles. This proactive strategy enables authorities to take appropriate measures as soon as possible, reducing accidents as well as preserving the infrastructure of the roads.
- Reduced Inspection Time
Leveraging our WIM applications significantly decreases inspection time, resulting in a more efficient process for both drivers and road authorities. Vehicles no longer have to stop or even slow down due to automated weighing, reducing traffic interruptions and the risk of accidents caused by sudden stops.
- Cost-Effective Measures
Investing in our in-motion weighing systems can save governments, road authorities, and enterprises a significant amount of money in the long run. By reducing road damage caused by overweight vehicles, this smart technology saves money for other important road safety measures, promoting a sustainable transportation ecosystem.
The In Motion Weighing Technology Used by ControlSoft Canada
To assist our clients in tracking vehicle weight, classifying traffic flow, and ensuring the smooth operation of road infrastructure, we employ three essential WIM sensors, which are as follows:
Single Load Cell WIM Sensor – A single load cell WIM sensors are normally made up of two weighing platforms per lane, each with one or more single load cells. Levers or a hydraulic system convey pressing force on a platform to a load cell. The strain is measured using strain gauge load cells, and the dynamic/static load is calculated by a computer. This sensor offers the highest accuracy and requires a concrete foundation.
Bending Plate – Bending plate technology is usually employed for weight-in-motion data collecting. In most cases, a weighing pad (a steel plate with strain gauges bonded to the bottom) is fixed in a metal frame. Two WIM sensors have been installed in the travel lane. Strain gauges measure the force produced by the vehicle as it passes over the metallic plate. This provides a weight on both scales depending on wheel/axle loads. These sensors have a moderate installation cost, with medium accuracy.
Piezoelectric WIM Sensors – Mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy using piezoelectric sensors. The frequency as well as the magnitude of the signal are proportional to the change in load force. When the vehicle axle force is removed, the output voltage has the opposite polarity. The polarity switch produces an alternating output voltage. This voltage change can be used to detect and record vehicle count and categorization, In-motion weighing, and other variables.
FAQ
The Slow Speed Weigh-in-Motion System has been designed to offer quick and precise axle and gross weight information for all vehicle types, from light vans to the heaviest multi-axle automobiles.
Rail, roadways, mining facilities, ports, airports, etc. industries, make extensive use of Weigh-in-Motion technology since it offers a faster and more efficient approach to weight measuring.
The Bending Plate Weigh-in-Motion (WIM) System can precisely weigh automobiles at speeds up to 60 km/h. These devices use plates with strain sensors affixed on the bottom. The system measures strain gauges and calculates dynamic load.
