ControlSoft Canada was selected by North American Laser system in Mississauga Ontario, to act as a lead integrator for their Industrial Laser marking project for General Motors engine block laser marking and traceability project.

ControlSoft Canada project scope included

  • Preparing design documents for electrical and controls engineering
  • Prepare mechanical, electrical layout for all control panel as per UL508A specifications
  • Develop hardware and software interface between Laser marking system and PLC controls
  • Functional Design specification document preparation for controls engineering
  • Design and build complete system specifications
  • Controls PLC hardware using Allen Breadley Compact Logix 5500 CPU
  • Control PLC programming using RS Logix studio 5000
  • Programming HMI and SCADA using Factory Talk Machine view software
  • Design and develop Fanuc Robotic hardware and data integration
  • Development local SQL database to storing engine block manfacturing data and pushing back to archive servers on GM network
  • Retrieve engine block specific data from GM HQ in live network mode
  • Generating Automotive standard barcode data package to be laser marked on engine blocks in
    production line

Above project was successfully completed by ControlSoft Canada and GM had multiple installs of this system at all GM plants around the world.
